Race Promoter's Opinion On Landis Doing Leadville 100

UltraRob's Adventures has moved. Read this post at http://www.ultrarob.com/blog/2007/01/race-promoters-opinion-on-landis-doing.php.

I've been wondering whether Floyd Landis will be able to race the Leadville 100 Mountain Bike race if he doesn't win his fight against the doping charge from last year's Tour de France. Yesterday Ed posted on the Yahoo LT100Bike Group about his conversation with Ken, the Leadville 100 race organizer, when he dropped off his entry form. A portion of it is below ...

Leadville 100 Entry Forms Online

UltraRob's Adventures has moved. Read this post at http://www.ultrarob.com/blog/2007/01/leadville-100-entry-forms-online.php.

The entry forms for the Leadville races was posted online on Wednesday. This is the 25th year for the 100 mile run. The entries for the mountain bike race must be received by January 31st. The mail to Leadville isn't exactly fast so you shouldn't wait until the last minute.

Lance Armstrong has now said he won't race and Floyd Landis is a maybe depending on how is doping case turns out. By the way there's a good article in the LA Times that discusses the Landis case and how the testing system works. Quite honestly I think it's better ...

Scenes From the Holidays

UltraRob's Adventures has moved. Read this post at http://www.ultrarob.com/blog/2007/01/scenes-from-holidays.php.

The last couple weeks have been pretty crazy with the holidays. My brother came with his family plus my wife's grandparents were visiting. I made one trip to the mountains with my brother and some of the rest of my family that lives here and another one with the in-laws. Unfortunately I got injured on the first trip, so the 2nd trip wasn't as much fun.

On the first trip, my brother and I skied almost up to the Wild Irishman Mine near Montezuma. It's part of loop 7 of Montezuma's Revenge. It brought back lots of memories from the when I raced it. Things like the guy I found on loop 7 laying across a pile ...

Lance Armstrong Wimps Out of Doing Leadville 100

UltraRob's Adventures has moved. Read this post at http://www.ultrarob.com/blog/2006/12/lance-armstrong-wimps-out-of-doing.php.

According to a VeloNews article, Lance Armstrong announced yesterday that he has a scheduling conflict and won't be doing the Leadville 100. Go Clipless thinks he's just afraid that Floyd Landis will beat him. I think he may be right.

Maybe he should give the Durango 100 a try instead and take on a real challenge. The record finish time ...

UltraRob's Adventures has moved. Read this post at http://www.ultrarob.com/blog/2006/12/more-views-of-holiday-blizzard-of-2006.php.

The Gazette has posted some good pictures sent in by readers of the blizzard. The picture above is one of them and I'm not sure what part of town it was taken in. I'd guess it had ...

Holiday Blizzard of 2006

UltraRob's Adventures has moved. Read this post at http://www.ultrarob.com/blog/2006/12/holiday-blizzard-of-2006.php.

The media is calling our snowstorm the Holiday Blizzard of 2006. If the wind hadn't been blowing 30-40 mph yesterday, I think it would have just been a nice snow storm. Last night on the news they said Colorado Springs got 5-9 inches of snow with up to 18 inches to the north and east. At my house we might have had 3 inches on the sidewalk but when I shoveled it this morning it felt like twice that much because it was so wind packed.

Yesterday I waited to leave work until 4 PM in hopes the traffic would clear out. Academy Boulevard was still just a parking lot so I tried a couple different ways through neighborhoods until ...

Blizzard

UltraRob's Adventures has moved. Read this post at http://www.ultrarob.com/blog/2006/12/blizzard.php.

Yesterday the forecast was for 6-9 inches of snow. It was cloudy and cold but we only had a snow flurry that didn't even get the ground white. This morning when I got up it was just starting to snow and the wind was blowing 30-40 mph. I'm not really sure how much it has snowed this morning because it's blowing so much. The snow is in drifts with bare patches in between.

A little while ago an upper manager sent out this e-mail. "Team, with blizzard conditions and white out travel I encourage everyone to start home early, take your time and be careful. Thanks." The only good way for me to get home is I-25. I live close to downtown Colorado Springs and as you can see ...

UltraRob's Adventures has moved. Read this post at http://www.ultrarob.com/blog/2006/12/armstrong-versus-landis-confirmed-in.php.

A press release today confirms that Floyd Landis plans to race the Leadville 100 in 2007. It says that race directory Ken Chlouber invited him to do the race. I'm still not sure what will happen if his doping issues aren't ...

Floyd Landis to Race Leadville 100

UltraRob's Adventures has moved. Read this post at http://www.ultrarob.com/blog/2006/12/floyd-landis-to-race-leadville-100.php.

Steve Siguaw, who is the moderator for the Leadville 100 list and helps maintain the Leadville 100 website, just posted that not only is Lance Armstrong planning to do the Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Race but Floyd Landis is too! He said Merilee confirmed it for both Lance and Floyd. I'm not sure what impact Floyd's doping problems will have since ...
